PAINT MASK APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Before starting to apply a sheet of Paint Mask - trim 1/8 to 1/4 off each end where the top layer is folded over to the back.
Vehicle temperature must be 40 degrees F or above. (65 - 70 is ideal)
Clean vehicle surface with water - remove oil, dirt and wax. We suggest VM & P Naphtha. For plastic and glass we recommend Windex Window Cleaner or Isopropyl Achohol - wipe the surface dry with a clean lint free cloth.
Use masking tape to hold the Paint Mask into correct position - measuring from top and bottom.
Starting on the right half of the design, carefully and slowly separate top layer of pre-mask
paper from backing paper. The design will remain on top layer, clip off right half of
backing paper with scissors.
Using a plastic squeege, squeege from left to right, or up and down, working toward the
right end - using firm pressure - you now have half of the design adhered.
Remove all masking tape - lift left end of paint mask paper and slowly pull backing
paper off the left side of design - hold design away from vehicle surface.
Next, use squeege to adhere remainder of paint mask to vehicle surface, working from
center to left. Always pull the squeege - never push it. Always re-squeege in all
directions before removing the pre-mask paper. When pulling the squeege across the
design hold it at more of an angle than you naturally would do. The angle and pressure
will determine if you get air bubbles in the design.
Remove slowly, pre-mask paper from the design by pulling it back on itself at 180 degrees.
If you have a bubble in a design - puncture it with a needle and rub it down with finger pressure. Make sure that the design is completely rubbed down before painting so that the paint will not run under the template.
Once you have the design applied your ready to apply your paint. Spray or brush the paint inside the
design area (preferably spray paint will provide a better finish but brushing works perfectly also). Allow your
paint to become tacky but not completely dry. Once paint is tacky start to peel off the paint mask being extra careful not to touch your paint. You now have perfect painted pinstriping!
These Paint Templates will not leave any type of glue residue on your paint surface after it has been removed.
